I’m not one of those “gifted” gift givers. I’m really at a loss at every gift giving occasion and I break out in a little sweat when I have to enter the hallowed halls of any mall and try to find something that is sincere, functional and reflect my feelings all in one object. So, I’m always looking for simple, sweet and sincere gift ideas that I can store away and pull out when I have to get a gift.
Needless to say I was thrilled when I went to a baby shower and discovered a wonderful gift idea; children's books! I'm sure you are thinking, well duh books for children at a baby shower but I think they would make great gifts for any occasion and for a person of any age. My only twist on this gift idea is get vintage children’s books. Thrift stores are full of them but if you prefer shopping online, etsy is a great alternative. I’d also recommend giving them a children’s book from the decade they were children but some authors are classics no matter when you were a kid, for instance Richard Scary and Charles Schwartz. For a wedding it be very cute to give two books that represent each person.
On another note though, I’m not really in touch with the children's books that children love today. I have this uneasy sense that with each new generation of babes, books won’t be as sentimental to them because...well...maybe they won’t exist, dun dun dun. This may sound sc-fi paranoid on my part but I can sort of imagine a future of kids owning their own e-readers (shutter). What do you think? Any thoughts on an apocalpytc future with no children's books?

There is something so special about an old loved book! These are some of my favorite gifts to give!! I usually start collecting thrifted books in January to give to my wee ones at Christmas the following year. They always love getting a new book bag full of adventure and imagination! Thank you for sharing!
Wonderful!!
Thank you so much for introducing my book.
Actually, I really like snoopy and Richard Scarry's book too :)
